All About Our Extensions
At Storybook Salon, we intentionally chose the Invisible Bead Extensions method after years of research, education, and hands-on experience. IBE is considered one of the most advanced installation methods in the industry; designed for maximum comfort, flexibility, and seamless concealment. Storybook Salon is the first and only Invisible Bead Extension Certified Salon in the Central Virginia area.

While IBE is our method of installing the extensions, the extension hair itself is our very own exclusive line: Chapter I Signature Extensions by Storybook. After months of intense dedication, research, and networking, we selected our hair for its exceptional quality, longevity, and natural movement, in addition to its sourcing. The technique and the hair are equally important, and together, they create the elevated extension experience we stand behind.
The Visit.
Step One: consultation
Your extension journey begins with an in-depth, in-person or zoom consultation designed to ensure the best possible outcome for your hair and lifestlye.

During your visit, we'll perform a microscopic scalp analysis and have a thoughtful conversation about your hair goals, daily routine, preferred hairstyles, and any current concerns. This allows us to create a customized extension plan that prioritizes hair health, longevity, and seamless results.

Time and space to make your decision without pressure

A decision does not need to be made the day of your consultation. Once you're ready to move forward, a deposit secures your appointment. Appointments are typically scheduled 7-10 days after the deposit is paid.
* To ensure accuracy and quality, no coloring or cutting may be done to your hair between the consultation and the extension appointment unless performed by our team.*
step two: the appointment.
On the day of your appointment, you'll be welcomed with a beverage and light snack as we begin your fully curated extension experience. Appointments typically last 3-4 hours.

Premium hair extensions that are shampooed, dried, and inspected by our team prior to your arrival

A comprehensive reconfirmation consultation with custom extension mapping to ensure ideal placement, comfort, and longevity and align on tone and final details

Professional coloring and precision cutting of your natural hair to seamlessly support your extension install

Custom coloring of the extensions when required, followed by washing and blow-drying

A relaxing scalp spa ritual paired with a nourishing hair treatment to prep the hair and scalp

A luxurious shampoo experience with extended scalp massage

Expert installation of your extensions using the IBE method

A tailored haircut to shape, balance, and seamlessly blend the finished look

Styling, educating, and maintenance guidance

Professional photos and a curated take-home care package including: A professional extension-safe brush, a shower cap or silk sleep cap, custom product samples selected specifically for your hair, and an extension-safe SPF sample (avobenzene-free)

Listed below are our three extension package offerings, ranging from most subtle results and smallest investment, to most dramatic results and largest investment. Please note, additional wefts not included in the chosen package are $150 per piece.

Enhance
Our Enhance extension package is our basic level extension package. This package is best for clients who want volume / density. Enhance involves minimum length and maximum fullness. This package is perfect for those who are new to extensions or those who are not looking to add a lot of length. ​
This package includes up to 4 wefts of 14-18 inch length. Additional wefts increase starting cost. ​​

Elevate
Our Elevate extension installation package is perfect for those looking to add volume and length. This is our most popular extension package, allowing both ease of maintenance and dramatic results. This package includes up to 8 wefts of 20-22 inch length. It is recommended that the natural length be at least below the shoulders for this package

Transform
Our Transform extension installation package is for those looking for a dramatic change. Transform involves extra volume and a lot of extra length. This package gives the longest, fullest hair possible. Transform includes up to 10 wefts of up to 24 inch length hair. It is recommended that the natural hair be below the shoulder blade for this package.

step three: maintenance.
Between 6-8 weeks after your initial install appointment, you will come in to have them maintained. Our extensions maintenance always includes full removal and reinstallation -- this ensures the health of the natural hair as opposed to traditional "move-ups" in which beads are unclamped, moved, and re-clamped (a method Storybook does not believe in). . Our extension maintenance appointments includes:

Thorough consultation to ensure your expectations were met and address any concerns

Professionally executed meticulous removal of the extensions, protecting both your investment and your natural hair along the way

Shampoo, scalp analysis, and mini scalp treatment with scalp massage and deep condition treatment to your natural hair

Any rooting and toning needed on the extensions (not your natural hair)

Shampoo and deep condition of the extensions before reinstallation

Blowout on your natural hair and the extensions

Re-install of the extensions
